Rice Husk Gasifier Technology: Coordination meeting held in Nay Pyi Taw

A Coordination meeting (1/2023) on Rice husk Gasifier Technology was held at the Ministry of Industry in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than pointed out that Rice husk Gasifier Technical Committee and sub-committee have been formed and Myanmar Engineering Council Gasifier Working Group-MGWG is also formed with the participation of 15 specialists to implement the cooperative tasks with the chemical engineering experts.

The discussions on gasifier technology were held on 6th and 22nd July and 2nd August at the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Electric Power respectively.

On 19th August, another discussion was held successfully with the collaboration of the engineers from Myanmar Engineering Council in Yangon. Also, results of the surveys conducted in Ayeyawaddy and Bago Regions were clarified during the discussions.

The Union Minister pointed out that the gasifier technologies which are developed by holding the discussions will be distributed to the gasifier manufacturers and users for the emergence of the Biomass electric power generating enterprises.

Then, Union Minister for Electric Power U Nyan Tun pledged that the Ministry will purchase the electric power generated by private entrepreneurs and will provide the technical assistance and other necessities for widely usage of rice husk gasifier locally.

Then, Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr. Myo Thein Kyaw stressed that since the Ministry has already developed the SOP (draft) regarding the gasifier technologies, the tasks for raw materials usage, chemical gas emission reduction and waste management plans will be implemented in collaboration with the relevant ministries.

Then, the Chief Ministers of Ayeyawaddy and Bago Regions and Deputy Minister for Science and Technology made sector-wise discussions on the development of rice husk gasifiers. It was followed by a general round of discussion by the attendees, and the ceremony concluded by the closing remarks of the Union Minister for Industry.
