Myanmar exports more than 500,000 tons of rice and by-products till 25th June in 2022-2023 fiscal year.

At present, the demand for broken rice from Myanmar is high from foreign buyers, and the Myanmar Rice Federation is making arrangements to meet the demands of both local and foreign markets.

Chairman, Myanmar Rice Federation, Ye Min Aung  said “We have high demand of broken rice.  But we have to make balance with the needs of local livestock sector since broken rice and bran are used for animal feeds. So, we negotiate with local companies and rice mills to prioritize their sales for local livestock sector. On the other hand, we make arrangements for the buyers from other countries to purchase rice and by-products conveniently.”

The federation is also providing necessary assistance for the farmers for boosting production.

Chairman, Myanmar Rice Federation, Ye Min Aung said “Currently, local rice market is stable. There is no significant change in rice price. Our federation is trying to help farmers those are facing the problems of having enough fertilizer and quality species to improve the production of rice per acre yields.”

Rice is the staple food of Myanmar and it has been exporting to Europe and China by sea route.
