Rice Distribution: Over 50,000 rice bags from Pyapondistributed daily

Yangon Region is the transport hub for distribution rice, produced from Pyapon Township in Ayeyawaddy Region.

Over 50,000rice bags are being transported from Pyapon to Yangon daily.

Being a time of summer paddy harvesting, around 2,000 to 5,000 rice bags can be able to transported to Yangon these days. The increase may have seen till the end of May.

Vice Chairman, Kyaw Win Than, Pyapon Township Rice Millers and Merchants Association said "A bag of summer rice is around 54,000 and 56,000 kyats. It’s convenient in harvesting and selling process for the farmers during these days due to high demand of rice market. Consumers mostly buy new summer rice bags because of the reasonable price."

Summer paddy species such as 90-day, Lone Pu and Thee Htet Yin are mostly cultivated in Pyapon Township.   Rice, produced from Pyapon Township have been distributed to Mandalay, Nay Pyi Taw, Myeik and Dawei through Yangon Region.
