A sacred ceremony to pour water on the Bodhi tree was held at Maravijaya Buddha Park in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday. The event was attended by Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, along with Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice Senior General Soe Win and wife, Council Secretary, Joint Secretary and members, Union level officials, Union Ministers and their wives as well as concerned officials, and Wut Associations.

The Prime Minister and wife, together with other attendees, poured water on the Bodhi tree at designated places, to celebrate the sacred ritual, conducted on the Full Moon Day of Kason, a day of religious importance for Buddhists.

The Full Moon Day of Kason commemorates several pivotal events in Buddhist history. It is the day when Lord Dipankara Buddha foretold the future Buddhahood of the hermit Sumida, declaring that he would become the Lord Buddha in the Bhadda World. Additionally, this day marks the birth, enlightenment, and Parinirvana of Prince Siddhartha, who became Gautama Buddha.

Every year, Buddhists observe this day with various ceremonies, honoring its deep spiritual and historical significance. The water-pouring ceremony at Maravijaya Buddha Park is a part of these observances, reflecting the devotion and religious heritage of the community.
