


President of Chile Sebastián Piñera announced results of the government's study of booster COVID-19 doses on Thursday.
He said using the new booster doses had resulted in fewer hospitalizations, with Sinovac reaching an effectiveness of 88%, Pfizer of 87%, and AstraZeneca of 96% in those criteria. in fewer contagions, Sinovac booster shots' effectiveness increased from 56% to 80%, Pfizer's from 56% to 90%, and AstraZeneca's from 56% to 93%.
Chile has already fully vaccinated 88.8% of adults and began delivering booster shots in August specifically to those who were given the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine.
More than 3.6 million people have received a new dose. In the early hours of Thursday, nearly 400,000 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech and 242,000 of the AstraZeneca arrived in Chile.
