Resilient ponds enhance farming security

Viet Nam is in need of projects to mitigate the severe impact of drought due to intense climate change in various regions.

In Ninh Thuan province, the SACCR project has strengthened the resilience of smallholder agriculture to climate change-induced water insecurity. The project has supported the digging of water storage ponds for local households for the 2021-2026 periods.

The SACRR’s Ninh Thuan project has so far established 152 water storage ponds, benefiting over 7,000 households. These ponds initially resolved the water shortage issue during the dry season. It is estimated that an additional 91 water storage ponds will be implemented in 2024.
