Research Paper Reading Session: Sustainability of forestry, mineral and environment

35th Research Paper Reading Session for forestry, mineral and environmental issues commenced on Tuesday.

Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi attended the opening ceremony, held at YayZin Forest Research Department. In his opening speech, the Union Minister stressed the importance of Research and Development sector for the sustainable development and the applied research in order to tackle the obstacles and challenges in implementing the systematic management for sustainability of forest resources, mining and environmental sector.

He urged all to conduct research works for new approaches in tackling the forestry and environmental issues including the nature-based approach. He also pointed out the need to continue research works for implementing the responsible mining industry that could ensure for sustainability of mining industry.

The Union Minister later viewed the display of research posters and the authors clarified the findings through the research. At the paper reading session, a total of 30 papers regarding the forestry, mineral and environmental sectors are going to read for three days from 20th to 22nd February.

After that, the Union Minister inspected upgrading works of convocation hall and the community hall of the University of Forestry and Environmental Science (Yezin), responsible officials clarified the work implementation and the Union Minister gave necessary instruction.

Then, the Union Minister met with the students and urged to study hard the theoretical and practical lessons and to be the youth who are morale and reliable by the country. The retired forestry professionals accompanied the Union Minister shared the university student life and their work experiences and urged the students to be decent human resources.
