Research Matters: Archaeology And Museum Maintenance

The Department of Archaeology and National Museum (Yangon) and the Yangon National Museum under the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture jointly held a research paper-reading session related to archaeology and museum maintenance.

During the event at the Yangon National Museum, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Ko Ko stressed that researchers need to enhance knowledge exchange and collaboration to generate valuable ideas. He called for efforts for museums to go digital through virtual tours. Digital platforms have become common for museums across the globe these days. All must strive to improve digital engagement in museums, he added.

Also, Director-General of the Department of Archaeology and National Museum gave remarks regarding the intradepartmental research paper-reading session. In this research paper-reading session, six research papers were read entitled ‘The Epigraphs in Bago’, “The Throne with Cultural Relations between Myanmar and India”, “The Architecture and Artworks of Pagodas on Setkya Hill near Pyar Village, Myingyan Township, Mandalay Region’’, “The Initial Survey and Research Process in Laterite Ores Extraction in Taninthayi City”, “Digital Museum”, “Cultural Heritage Study in Ywathitgyi Village and the Surroundings in Sagaing District”.
