Rescuers find eighth victim in Ecuador landslide

Search and rescue brigades on Tuesday recovered a body, the eighth victim of a landslide that buried at least 50 houses in Alausi, in south-central Ecuador. Nearly 300 rescue workers are searching the area, but continuous rain has hampered their efforts.

The last victim, a girl about six years old, is the first to be located in nearly two days of work. Relatives requested the search teams continue working, in an effort to find three more relatives that were in the same house at the time of the disaster on Sunday night. Sixty-two people remain missing.
