






Rescue teams from local and international communities are carrying out the rescue and relief measures in the quake-hit areas.
Following the severe earthquake, many infrastructures including residential buildings, government offices, staff housings and religious edifices were collapsed, trapping the affected persons.
Htay Aung, said " When the quake struck, my wife, my grandchild and I were in the apartment. We rush outside and my wife got injured in her leg, and now she is receiving treatment at 1,000 bed Hospital. "
In Nay Pyi Taw, rescue works are being carried out by the Special Search and Rescue Team of Myanmar Fire Brigade in collaboration with the Yangon Region Fire Brigade and social organizations as well as the Rescue Team from Singapore.
Kaung Myat Naung, Assistant Director, Myanmar Fire Brigade, said " 20 members from the Special Search and Rescue Team and 66 members from Yangon Region Search and Rescue Team are working together in the rescue operations. In addition, the rescue team from Singapore also joins the operation, along with their canines. So far, we have not been able to find any survivors, but recovered the dead bodies."
As of Sunday, over 1,700 were reported deaths with more than 3,400 injured and over 300 missing. Authorities are working hard to treat the injured and continue searching for the missing.
