Rescue operations continue in the landslide-afflicted Wayanad of India's Kerala

As rescue operations in South India’s Wayanad is underway, around 219 bodies have been recovered so far, while 206 people remain missing. Identifying bodies from the Chaliyar River in Nilambur continues to be challenging, with 67 unidentified bodies found to date. The Indian Air Force (IAF) has launched relief and rescue operations simultaneously in Wayanad for the fourth day.

On Sunday morning, IAF Rescue team launched a helicopter to rescue two stranded survivors from base of Soochipara waterfalls near Chooralmala village in Wayanad Kerala. Further 4 REECO radars and one ZAWER radar were flown in an AN32 to Calicut to aid in searching and locating survivors buried under soil and debris.
