


Rescuers were working to reach people under the rubble in three provinces hit hard by the devastating quakes that hit Turkiye and Syria last Monday. The death toll from the deadly earthquakes in Turkiye and Syria passed 35,000. In Adiyaman province, rescuers cheered as they pulled an 18-year-old man alive from the rubble after surviving almost 200 hours.
The quake affected 10 provinces in Turkiye that are home to some 13.5 million people. More than 41,500 buildings were either destroyed or so damaged that they need to be demolished, according to Turkiye's Ministry of Environment and Urbanization.
