



Rescue and relief measures continue at the quake hit areas, following the powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Myanmar.
In Mandalay, rescue operations are conducting at the Masoyein Taik Thit where the members of the Sangha who sat for the Dhamma Cariya Exam were trapped under the collapsed building.
When the powerful earthquake struck, with its epicenter near Mandalay, the religious exam was being held at Masoyein Taik Thit. Due to the intensity of the quake, the building collapsed, trapping the exam-taking monks under the debris.
As of March 30th, some 85 members of the Sangha were rescued.
Min Myat Oo, Leader, Disaster Rescue Team, said " Sadly, there are no survivors left. We will continue clearing the debris and recovering the bodies. We tried our best to save the survivors. Out of 250 exam takers, we were able to save only 85."
The rescue works have been carried out with the collaboration of rescue teams from China, India and China as well as those from regions and states.
