Rescue and Relief Measures: Bangladesh assistance for the quake-hit communities

Following the devastating earthquake in Myanmar, the international communities have been sending the relief materials for the affected communities, along with the relief supplies.

Among these assistance, the neighbouring Bangladesh has sent a rescue team and relief items through air route on 30th March and 1st April respectively.

These relief materials include medicine and medical products, tent, and dry food. In addition, a medical team was also accompanied with the rescue team to provide health assistance to the affected individuals.

Dr. Md. Monwar Hossain, Ambassador of Bangladesh said “Bangladesh government is committed to continue our support for the people of Myanmar. We are planning to bring one more naval ship which is expected to start from Bangladesh on 8th of April and hopefully will come to Yangon Sea Port on 11th of April with over 100 metric tons of relief materials.”

In addition, the Bangladesh Red Cross Society is also sending the relief materials to the Myanmar Red Cross Society for the affected communities.

Dr. Md. Monwar Hossain, Ambassador of Bangladesh said “We are deeply moved by the courage shown by the local community here. They are actively supporting the rescue efforts of the government of Myanmar and also of the Government of Bangladesh. So, we are very happy about their support to them. In addition to the local community support, we are mobilizing our Bangladeshi community who live in Yangon. They are also collecting relief assistance materials to send to Mandalay area, to the affected communities.”

It is learnt that a Naval Ship carrying over 100 metric tons of relief materials has already left from Bangladesh and expected to reach Yangon Port on the 11th.
