Renovation Works : Chief Minister inspects earthquake-damaged road repairs

Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung, together with regional ministers and officials, on Sunday inspected the repair works along the strand road between Shankalay Island and Shwe Khae in Amarapura and Chanmyathazi townships, which was damaged by the recent strong earthquake.

Officials explained that damaged soil layers up to a depth of 4 feet were being removed, road layers were being compacted, and geo-materials were used to fill areas affected by liquefaction, sand boils, and ground cracks.

Trees in the road median were relocated, drainage systems installed, and the road median is being rebuilt. The Chief Minister instructed to complete the work as soon as possible, and to ensure long-term durability by meeting quality standards.
