Renovation Works in Bagan: Maintenance of historical buildings & Murals carried out

According to the Department of Archeological and National Museum (Bagan Brunch), the renovation works for the ancient buildings and mural paintings have being carried out in the Bagan Archeological Zone with the cooperation of experts from Archaeological Survey India (ASI) and the Department of Archeological and National Museum (Bagan Brunch) since the 14th of March.                              

The Deputy Director of the Department of Archeological and National Museum (Bagan Brunch) reported that the renovation works have been started as of 14th March at the pagoda No. 225, 235, 1600, 2011 and 2013. Before renovation process, documentations are made in finding evidences of damaging and collection of essential renovation equipments. 

Renovations of 36 historical buildings and 56 pagodas with mural paintings have been implementing according to the MOU between the two countries since 2018. During 2022, pagoda number 235 has been renovated for prevention of water entry and mural renovation and the cleaning of dust was made at pagoda number 1600. By the Department of Archeological and National Museum (Bagan Branch),efforts are being made to preserve cultural heritage in Bagan Archeological Zone as well as cooperation with the international organizations such as (ASI).
