Renovation Works: 15 school buildings of GTHS (Sittwe) completed

The renovation works of the 15 school buildings of the Government Technical High School (Sittwe) damaged by the cyclonic storm “Mocha” hit Rakhine State have been completed till 24th June, said, the in-charge of renovation works of GTHS.

Among the damaged school buildings of the Government Technical High School (Sittwe), the roof repairing works were prioritized and there are 19 buildings which needed repairing of roof. Out of 19, 15 school buildings have been completed roof repairing works, said, the in-charge of renovation works of GTHS.

Renovation In-Charge, Thet Oo Htin, said " In a status of completing roof repairing works, Out of 19, 15 buildings have been completed at 100%. For the remained 3 buildings including the principal’s house, mechanical workshop and bike stand, the construction materials have been transported by MLCP. The repairing works for principal’s house and workshop are being kept continuing under the opportunity given by the weather condition.”

The repairing works for the remaining buildings have completed at 20% and there are some obstacles in the works due to the weather conditions.

The roof repairing work completed buildings are the buildings of class rooms, students dormitories, facilities of the faculty members and staff housing buildings. To complete the roof repairing works of remaining buildings, the efforts are being put depending on the weather condition and the arrival of construction materials, explained, the in-charge of renovation works of GTHS.

Renovation In-Charge, Thet Oo Htin, said “To mention in percentage of completion for the remained buildings, the principal’s house and mechanical workshop have been finished at 20%. Due to the bad weather condition, we have to work under some obstacles. Under the weather conditions and waiting time for arrival of construction materials, we are doing our best to complete all the works.”

The tearing off the roof, peeling of the galvanized iron sheets and falling down of ceiling  took place at almost every school building of the Technical High School due to the very severe cyclonic storm "Mocha" made landfall on 14th May.

The Myanmar Licensed Contractors Public Co., Ltd is undertaking the rehabilitation and reconstrucion works of the Government Technical High Schools (Sittwe).
