Renovation of monastic building: MDY CM inspected renovation of monastic building

The Mandalay Region Chief Minister Wunna Kyaw Htin U Maung Ko visited Nan Oo monastery in ChanAyeThaZan Township, paid obeisance to the Sayadaws, offered the offertories to the Sangha and inspected the completion of renovation works for over 130 years-old Yatanapon era works of wood monastric building on 16th January.

First, the chief minister reported the instructions of the Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister regading renovation and conservation of Myanmar cultural works and ancient buildings and religious edifices, providing four essential needs of the Sangha and healthcare and giving vaccination to the members of Sangha.

Then, the presiding Sayadaw replied that the members of Sangha are putting efforts for the religious duties by depending on the assistances providing by law persons and harmonious endear of the Sangha and the lay persons is needed for the interest of the Sasana.

Next, the chief minister offered the offertories to the Sangha and inspected over 130 years-old wood monastric building. The director of the department of archeological research and national museums (Mandalay branch) clarified the status of renovatio works and the chief minister instructed to carry out renovation without breaking original works, preserve for long term and sysgematic re-installation of electricity power lines to protect fire hazard.

Regarding with the monastic building, during the reign of King Thipaw (AD-1882), the Nan Oo monastery was donated to Sayadaw U NyaNeinDa who was revered by the King at the place where existed at present 31x70 and 71 street corner in ChanAyeThaZan Township.

There were 8 monastic buildings originally but now only a wood monastic building remains. As it has come to decay and deteriorate, the renovation works have been carrying out in 2018-2019 fiscal year under the supervision of the department of archeological research and national museums (Mandalay branch).
