Religious Meeting: 18th plenary meeting of 8th 47-member SSMNC

The 8th 47-member State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee organized the first-day session of the 18th plenary meeting in the Maha Pasana Cave in Yangon Friday.

The meeting was attended by Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Thanlyin Min Kyaung Pahtama Pyan Sarthintaik Sayadaw Dr Bhaddanta Sandhima Bhivamsa and member Sayadaws, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin, the Director-General of Religious Affairs Department and other officials of departments concerned.

The Chairman Sayadaw presided over the meeting and Joint Secretary Sayadaw acted as the master of ceremonies.

First, the Chairman Sayadaw recited Saraniya Ovada Gatha to start the meeting. Union Minister U Tin Oo Lwin presented matters related to religious affairs. Then, Joint Secretary Sayadaw reported on the activities of the eighth Sangha Nayaka Committee (third subcommittee) conducted during the sixth term.

The Sayadaws also discussed Vinicchaya and religious affairs and concluded the first session. During the second session, the Sayadaws discussed religious affairs and education-related matters. After the session, matters related to the publishing of religious books including the treatises and translated books were submitted.
