Religious & Ethnic Affairs: Dy Prime Minister makes donation and holds meeting

Member of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Defence Admiral Tin Aung San and other SAC members as well as union ministers visited the Dhamma Rakita Wuntho Monastery in Myitkyina of Kachin State.

There, the Deputy Prime Minister and party took five precepts and listened to sermons recited by members of the Sangha. And, they donated 50 bags of rice, cooking oil and cash for 9 monasteries in Myitkyina. Also, the Deputy Prime Minister and party paid homage to the ShinPinMyatSwa Sutaungpyae Pagoda in Waingmaw Township, offered flowers, water and light and donated cash.

At the Manaw Ground in Myitkyina, the Deputy Prime Minister and party met with Ethnic Literature and Cultural associations in the state. In the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister stressed that the socio-economic life of the ethnic people will improve only if they get more employment opportunities.

Both the government and ethnic people should implement effective projects. He also pledged to provide assistance for educational, health and socio-economic development of ethnic people from all sides. Also, Union Minister for Ethnic Affairs Jeng Phang NawTaung explained his ministry’s cooperation with region/state governments for ethnic affairs.

And, the Deputy Prime Minister and party provided fruit baskets and 1 million Kyats each to the Ethnic Literature and Cultural associations. There, they also held discussions on literature and cultural conservation issues and appointment of ethnic language teachers. After the discussions, the Deputy Prime Minister and party left Myitkyina and were seen off by Kachin State Chief Minister and concerned officials.
