Religious Ceremony: Prime Minister attends ceremony in Nay Pyi Taw

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla and many other officials attended a ceremony to represent the White Tuft of Hair with jewels at the Maravijaya Buddha Image on Monday.

This ceremony began with members of the Sangha reciting the Namo Tassa for 3 times and sermons. The White Tuft of Hair between the eyebrows, one of the Lord Buddha’s thirty-two characteristics, curls from left to right. The Maravijaya Buddha image carved in the Buddha Park in Dekkhinathiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory has now been 95 percent completed with four objectives to show the firm flourishing of Ther­avada Buddhism of Myanmar to the world, to ensure peace and stability of the State, to develop the region with visits of local and international travellers to the Buddha image and contribute to the development of the State.

The Image is being carved in accord with the 32 major characteristics and 80 secondary characteristics of Buddha as guided by the State Ovadacariya Sayadaws. And, construction of religious buildings and the Buddha Park has now been 82.3 percent completed. When completed, the Maravijaya will become the tallest stone Buddha Image in the world.
