Construction of the Maravijaya Buddha image aims to show flourishing of Theravada Buddhism in Myanmar, for Myanmar to be a focal point of Theravada Buddhism, ensure prosperity of the State and contribute to peace and stability of the world.

Advice was sought from venerable members of the Sangha from the State SanghaMahaNayaka Committee for carving the Buddha image and construction of religious buildings. Tri Pitaka treatises were carved on the stone plaques in Pali and Romanized languages for the Maravijaya Buddha Park.

The Buddha image was carved in four parts with the use of CNC technology and all carving processes were completed on 31 March 2022, including construction of 720 stone plaque chambers on which small pagodas were built. Parts of the Buddha image were connected with each other and conveyed on the throne.

A ceremony to consecrate the Maravijaya Buddha image and hoist umbrellas atop small pagodas on stone plaque chambers will take place on a grand scale on the 1st of August 2023, the full moon day of Second Waso (Dhammacakka Day).
