Religious Affairs: Religious titles conferring ceremony in New Delhi

Myanmar Embassy hosted the conferring ceremony of religious titles offered by the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to Buddhist Monks. The conferring ceremony of religious titles ““MAHASADDHAMMA JOTI KADHAJA” and “SADDHAMMAJOTIKADHAJA” was held on 26th May at the Myanmar Embassy in New Delhi.

Most Venerable Sitagu Sayadaw and members of the Sanha attended the ceremony. In this ceremony, breakfast was served to distinguished guests and alms-food was offered to venerable monks by Myanmar Ambassador. First of all, Myanmar Ambassador to India delivered an opening speech, emphasizing on well-deserved recognition for Venerable Buddhist Monks’ outstanding contribution and devotion of towards promoting and strengthening Buddhism as well as for their utmost efforts in carrying out the purification, perpetuation, propagation and promotion of the Buddha Sasana in India and other Buddhist countries.

Then, Sitagu Sayadaw and Kushinagar Sayadaw delivered remarks. On behalf of the Government of Myanmar, Myanmar Ambassador presented the prestigious religious titles to three prominent venerable members of the Sangha, followed by presenting International Buddha Peace Awards to four dignitaries who have rendered significant social contribution.
