Religious Affairs: MORAC Union Minister meets Sri Lankan Ambassador

Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin received Sri Lankan Ambassador to Myanmar Mr. J.M.J.P. Bandara at the parlour of his Ministry in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday.

At the event, the Union Minister said that Myanmar and Sri Lanka possess prolonged relationship since they are being the countries following Theravada Buddha Sasana.

He added that the International Theravada Buddhist Missionary University is providing Buddha teachings to the monks from Sri Lanka with no admission fee, and the Union Minister asked for the convenience of Myanmar Sanghas studying in Sri Lanka.

He also expressed his delightness for establishing the Buddha University in Kandy. In return, the Sri Lankan Ambassador expressed grateful words of seeing no expenses for Sri Lankan student monks when they come to the International Theravada Buddhist Missionary University in Yangon for study as well as for conferring religious titles to the most venerable Sayadaws from the famous Buddhist Sects.

He also invited to attend the Buddha Tooth Relic conveying ceremony which is going to be held in Kandy, and expressed his endeavour for further cooperation in religious affairs of the two countries.
