Religious Affairs: Meeting with the Sri Lankan Ambassador

Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin OoLwin met with Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Myanmar Mrs. PrabashiniPonnamperuma at the Ministry in Nay Pyi Taw on 26th September. 

During the meeting, the Union Minister noted that both Myanmar and Sri Lanka are countries of Theravada Buddhism and that there has been a long history of religious and cultural exchanges between the two nations. He expressed the intention to continue enhancing collaborative efforts in religious and cultural areas.

Additionally, he emphasized the importance of facilitating visa processes for pilgrims, visiting significant religious sites in Sri Lanka.

The Sri Lankan Ambassador also noted that both countries are adherents of Theravada Buddhism and that Sri Lanka also has many historical records related to Theravada Buddhism. She also expressed that there has been collaboration between esteemed monks and Buddhist universities between the two countries, stressing the need to enhance these efforts in the future.
