Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung accompanied by concerned officials on Tuesday inspected preparations for the Kason Full Moon Day ‘Buddha Day’ Ceremony.

In the Ceremony on Wednesday in Mandalay, Buddhist devotees will offer rice and offertories and donate cash to 10,272 members of the Sangha, it’s reported. This year, the Buddha’s Day, the Full Moon Day of the month of Kason, falls on the 22nd of May.

Kason is an auspicious month for the Buddhists because of its full-moon day, which is religiously important. Four major events in the life of Lord Gautama Buddha took place on the fullmoon day of Kason when the Lord Dipankaya Buddha gave divine prophesy to the hermit Thumeda that the hermit would become the Lord Gautama Buddha.

Secondly, it was on the full-moon day of Kason when the Prince Siddhartha was born to Queen Maha Maya. Thirdly, it was on the full-moon day of Kason when the Prince Siddhartha attained enlightenment and became the Lord Gautama Buddha.

Fourthly, it was on the full-moon day of Kason when the Lord Gautama Buddha entered Parinibbana (Demise). In commemoration of these significant and holy events associated with the precious life of the Lord Buddha, Buddhists celebrate Buddha Day, the Full Moon of the month of Kason every year.
