Relief Measures: Provisions for flood victims in Taungoo

On 15th September, Vice Chairman (2) of the National Disaster Management Committee Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win accompanied by Bago Region Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win, Commander of Southern Command Major General Kyi Theik and many other concerned officials inspected the rehabilitation tasks, being carried out within Taungoo Township.

First, the Union Minister and party met with the department officials at SasanaBeikman, heard reports on current rehabilitation tasks and coordinated necessities. Then, the Union Minister and party visited the relief camps opened at B.E.H.S (3), B.E.H.S (7) and Shwe San Taw Pagoda and gave words of comfort to the flood vicitms and provided foodstuff.

They also coordinated requirements on drinking water distribution and health care service rendering. Due to severe flood within Bago Region, over 87,000 flood victims from Taungoo, Yedashe, Htantapin and Oak Twin townships are being accommodated temporarily at 100 relief camps and nearby safer places as of 15th September.

Necessary assistances and supplies are being provided to them with the collaborative efforts of the government, Tatmadawmen, members of police force, well wishers and social organizations.
