Relief Measures : Providing aid to flood-affected residents in Laymyethna

Vice Chairman of the National Disaster Management Committee Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win on Saturday visited flood-affected areas in Laymyethna Township of Ayeyawady Region, caused by the Ngawun Dam breach, and provided assistance to displaced residents.

The Union Minister, together with Ayeyawady Region Chief Minister U Aye Kyaw and officials, visited a temporary flood relief camp at Sayay Kwin  Village Monastery.

They provided support worth more than 83.5 million kyats, including rice assistance funds, instant noodles, canned fish, eggs, and drinking water, to affected residents from Laymyethna town and nearby villages. The Union Minister also met with flood victims and provided encouragement.

Officials explained the situation of the damaged Ngawun embankment and ongoing repair and reconstruction plans. The Union Minister coordinated necessary support for the recovery work. He later inspected flooded residential areas and reviewed relocation and rescue activities carried out by government departments and social organizations.
