






Since the 30th of June, Kachin State has been facing inundation due to record breaking surge of Ayeyawady River, caused by heavy rains, and since then relief camps are opened for the accommodation of the flood victims and rescue measures has been carried out continuously. On 11th of July, Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan inspected the flood affected areas in Wine Maw Township.
During the inspection, the Chief Minister inspected the flood affected 100 acres of paddy plantations and the condition of monsoon paddy plantations in in Madain Village of Wine Maw Township.
He also coordinated requirements of the local farmers. Next, the Chief Minister visited the relief camp in Ward No.5 of Wine Maw Township and provided tuna cans, instant noodle packages, eggs, toothbrush and toothpaste and exercises books to flood victims.
Then, the Chief Minister and party visited Wine Maw Township People’s Hospital and oversaw the collective cleaning tasks carried out at flood affected 2-stoery patient ward and comforted the patients, providing cash assistance. Later, the Chief Minister attended a donation ceremony for flood vicitms at Aung Chan Thar monestry in No.3 Ward.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister highlighted the unity of the residents and personnel in conducting flood response and recovery measures. He also appreciated the exerted efforts of the National Disaster Management Committee in transporting relief aids to the flood affected areas.
Then, the Chief Minister, Chief Justice of State High Court and state ministers provided over 8 million kyats worth of rice bags, tuna cans, instant noodle packages and eggs donated by the State Government, and over 7 million kyats worth of toothpaste, toothbrush and exercise books donated by the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement to the flood victims respectively.
