Relief Measures: Assistance provided to flood victims in Bago

On 2nd August, Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win visited flood relief camps in Bago Township and comforted the flood victims.

On arrival at Natural Disaster Supervisory Office opened at Buddha Athan Dhamma Beikman, the Union Minister and the Region Chief Minister made discussions with the officials on flood condition, evacuation and opening of relief camps.

Then, the Union Minister and party visited the relief camps opened at Su Taung Pyae Monastery in Myo Thit Ward, Basic Education Branch High School in Kyauk Kyi Su Ward and Mon Prayers’ Hall in Hanthawadi Ward and comforted the flood victims.

At the relief camps, the Union Minister and the Chief Minister clarified the systematic management of the head of State and Disaster Management Committee on evacuation measures and providing aids. They also elaborated the rehabilitation tasks to be carried out under the efficient guidance of National Disaster Management Committee.

During the visit, cash assistance and foodstuff worth over 52.7 million kyats were donated to the flood victims. It's reported that, the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement have already provided over 300 million kyats worth relief items to the flood victims in Bago Region as of 2nd August.
