Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung received Ambassador of India to Myanmar Mr. Abhay Thakur and party at the Regional Government Office on April 5th.

During the meeting, they discussed matters on rescue and rehabilitation measures in quake-hit areas and bilateral friendship.

In the same evening, Chief Minister U Myo Aung bid farewell to the Indian Rescue Team who have completed their tour of duty in Mandalay. The team arrived in Mandalay on March 30th to assist in the ongoing relief operations. They set up the mobile hospital at the site of Old Airport in Chan Mya Thazi Township to provide heath assistance to the affected communities.

The powerful earthquake that struck on March 28th and several aftershocks has caused extensive damages in various infrastructures, along with the casualties. Rescue and relief measures are being carried by the collective efforts of local organizations and international rescue teams. Efforts are also underway for reconstruction works in the quake-hit areas.
