Relief and Rehabilitation: Well-wishers make over 11 billion kyat donation

On 9th October, the 3rd cash donation ceremony for the rescue measures and rehabilitation activities in flood affected areas was held at the Mingalar Hall of the Yangon Region Government Office.

The ceremony commenced by screening a video clip titled “Let’s overcome the natural disaster upholding noble attitude” featuring rescue measures during severe flood.  Then, the ministries, region and state governments, well-wishers and donors from both home and abroad donated cash and relief aids for the rescue measures and rehabilitation activities in flood affected areas.

In expressing his appreciation, Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing stressed that the generous cash donation of the well-wishers reflects the deep benevolence and sincerity of the Myanmar people exhibiting the honorable manners of the qualified citizens. 

He added that the rehabilitation activities will be accomplished promptly thanks to the cash assistance donated by the generous well-wishers, and the government already received over 50 billion kyat cash assistance as of today. He added that as the government is making exerted efforts to provide necessary assistance in restoring normalcy in agricultural sector, the entrepreneurs are urged to invest in agricultural sector.

The Prime Minister encouraged the well-wishers and donors to provide necessary infrastructure and teaching aids for timely reopening of the schools. He also stressed on psychiatric rehabilitation of the flood victims due to the unpleasant events.

He also highlighted the efforts of the government on current population and housing census enumeration and upcoming general election, upholding the interest of the nation. During the ceremony, over 11.97 billion kyatswere received for rescue and rehabilitation measures in flood affected areas.
