Five Thai hostages recently freed from captivity by Hamas expressed their relief and joy upon returning home. Describing their ordeal, Pongsak Taenna, released on January 30, recounted being confined in a small room with little sunlight, receiving basic meals, and showering only every few days.

Despite harsh conditions, the hostages reported no physical harm and supported each other throughout their captivity.

Thai Foreign Affairs Minister Maris Sangiempongsa, who visited Israel to meet with the freed hostages and Israeli President Isaac Herzog, is working to secure the release of one remaining Thai hostage and repatriate the bodies of two deceased Thai nationals.

The released hostages are expected to return to Thailand within a week after medical assessments.
