





On October 5th, Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung, accompanied by concerned officials, paid homage to the Residing Sayadaw of NgweTaung-U Monastery in Tachileik Township, Shan State (East).
During the visit, the Chief Minister and party received the nine precepts while listening to the Metta Sutta, administered by the Sayadaw. They then donated offertories to the Sayadaw and shared the merits gained. Later that day, the Chief Minister and delegation attended a meeting at Aung Myat Hall in Tachileik to discuss cash donations for flood victims and ongoing rehabilitation efforts.
At the ceremony, the Chief Minister highlighted ongoing flood restoration efforts by the Shan State Government. He urged for coordinated action to improve water flow through joint efforts from both governmental organizations and the public.
Additionally, he underscored the need for proper fund allocation for rehabilitation initiatives, long-term flood prevention measures and the replanting of trees to mitigate future risks. After the speech, the Chief Minister heard a report on the restoration efforts from the Chairman of the Tachilek District Disaster Management Team.
He then distributed 100 million kyats of cash assistance to charity centers, homes for the aged, preschools and volunteer organizations in Shan State (East). The Chief Minister and party also provided relief supplies to flood victims.
After a general discussion with attendees, the Chief Minister discussed the prioritization on construction of retaining walls along Mae Sai River. Next, the Chief Minister and party proceeded to PoneHtun Ward to inspect the mechanized removal of silt, left by the recent floods.
