




Myanmar Licensed Contractors’ Association (Rakhine State) is undertaking of roof repairing works in MOCHA cyclone hit Basic Education High Schools and Sub High Schools in Rakhine State and the current implementation works are completed over 90%, according to the responsible persons of Association.
Due to the hitting of storm, tearing off the roof and building collapses occurred in most of the schools in the State. MLCA (Rakhine State) Chairman said roof repairing works are being made to be better than the original one.
Chairman, MLCA (Rakhine State), Kyaw Aye Maung, said " The roofing works have been completed about 90%. We prioritized roofing to be able to open the schools on the 1st of June. After that, we will continue repairing works of windows, ceiling etc. The Union Minister for Construction gave guideline to carry out the works for being better than the original condition. In line with the guideline of the Union Minister, we are implementing the works to be better than the conditions prior to the hitting of Cyclone Mocha."
The roof repairing works are being made for the schools in the townships of Rathedaung , Ponnagyun , Mrauk-U , Kyauktaw , Minbya , Myebon , Buthidaung , Maungdaw and Taungup in Rakhine State. There are some difficulties in terms of weather conditions and the increase of labor charges.
MLCA and MLCA (Rakhine State) are implementing the roof repairing works for the hospitals, schools, universities in MOCHA cyclone hit area Rakhine State. Among the rehabilitation tasks, 68 of Basic Education High Schools and Sub BEHSs are being prioritized.
