Rehabilitation in Rakhine State :Senior military officials manage rehabilitation works

Senior military officers have been assigned in Rakhine State under Section 11 of the Natural Disaster Management Law to oversee the progress of rehabilitation works in cyclone affected areas.

On the 12th of July, Lt-Gen Lu Aye from the Office of the Commander in Chief (Army) and departmental officials who are currently in Kyaukphyu Township visited the Shwe Nanthar Pariyati Monastery, paid homage to the Sayadaw and offered rice, cooking oil and other food items.

Then, they viewed provision of health care services to members of the Sangha. And, he visited the Zaya Thu kha Nunnery and offered rice, cooking oil and other offertory items to the nuns. Similarly, in Buthidaung Township, Lt-Gen Aye Win together with the departmental officials inspected the relief aid transport to the consumer affairs garage and gave necessary instructions for distribution to the cyclone affected people. And, he visited the Township People’s Hospital, cordially met with patients and donated foodstuffs.

Then, he viewed round the hospital and laboratory and gave necessary instructions. Also, he visited construction materials and food products sale at reduced prices in front of the U Ottama Hall and gave words of encouragement to the public. In Mrauk-U Township, Maj-General Thaung Htike Shwe attended and delivered an opening speech at the rice and vegetable deeds donation ceremony.

At the ceremony, they donated 2,402 bags of rice and 2,006 bags of vegetable seeds for 22 villages-tracts. In Kyau ktaw Township, Brigadier General Aung Thu Oo visited the Myoma Mhan Monastery and attended the rice donation ceremony for members of the Sangha there organized by the Township Disaster Management Committee and donated foodstuffs to members of the Sangha from 19 monasteries.
