Rehabilitation Measures: Reconstruction works underway in Mandalay

Members of the State Administration Council General Maung Maung Aye and General Nyo Saw visited the Maha Muni Pagoda in Mandalay on Friday. They assessed the damages caused by the severe earthquake, and clearing of debris along with the reconstruction works.

General Maung Maung Aye stressed for systematic renovation works through implementing the Post Earthquake Assessment works. They then visited the Army Can Making and Canned Food Factory in Chan Mya Thazi Township to assess the damages, outlining the reconstruction works.

The Generals and party later inspected the clearing of debris at the Golden City Hotel, water supply at No.4 Water Filtering Tank, and clean-up efforts at the Sky Villa as well as the damages along the Mandalay Palace Wall including Si Shay and Kyay Hmone Gateways.

Following the inspection, the General attended a work coordination meeting on systematic clean-up works and reconstruction in the quake-hit areas, held at the Central Command Headquarters. Officials reported on the damages caused by the devastating earthquake and response measures.

General Maung Maung Aye instructed to carry out the relief measures, learning from the international teams, while making arrangements to provide necessary rescue equipment for effective works. Council member General Nyo Saw also instructed to make precautionary measures of possible floods during the upcoming monsoon. They then inspected the repair works at the Mandalay Circular Road Section.
