Rehabilitation Measures: MOBA Union Minister tours in Kalaw

On 5th February, Member of the State Administration Council Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt-Gen Yar Pyae accompanied by the Council members, Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win, Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Jeng Pang Naw Taung, Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung and officials, visited Kalaw Township to inspect the renovation works of damaged infrastructures, caused by natural disaster.

During the visit, Lt-Gen Yar Pyae and party inspected the construction of 9 feet high retaining wall along Kalaw Creek and extension of the creek area as well as the documentary photos of rehabilitation works. 

They also viewed the damages and renovation works in Maw Myay Oo  Park. At the meeting hall of the District General Administration Department, the officials reported on the flood and rehabilitation tasks at Shwe Min Phone area in Kalaw and Thazi Townships.

Due to the disaster, the natural sinkhole of the ravine in Shwe Min Phone Village were blocked, resulting the inundation at the area. At present, drainages have been excavated for ensuring proper flow of water along with the implementation of exit way under the railway embankment.

Shwe Min Phone Village has 3 sinkholes with 6 feet wide and about 1 mile long, and these sinkholes were blocked during the disaster, resulting in the flood.
