Rehabilitation Efforts: SAC Chairman inspects quake-hit areas

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing accompanied by Council members, Union Ministers and high ranking officials from the office of Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services visited Sagaing to assess damages caused by devastating earthquake and to coordinate necessities on current rehabilitation process.

At Sagaing (Inwa) Bridge, the Prime Minister heard reports on arrangements carried out to ensure efficient debris clearing measures. Upon reports, the Prime Minister instructed on timely implementation of the clearing process and reopening of water routes.

On arrival at Yandana Ceti Sin Myar Shin Pagoda, the Prime Minister oversaw the debris clearing process and gave necessary instructions. They then proceeded to No.1 Basic Education High School and oversaw the temporary accommodation of the earthquake affected local residents, and condition of damaged classrooms. They instructed on renovation and reconstruction of the school buildings in timely manner to be readied for upcoming academic year. At Sagaing People’s Hospital, the Prime Minister oversaw the healthcare service provision to the earthquake victims and provided foodstuff and cash assistance for the victims.

Next, the Prime Minister visited the temporary hospital set up at 700th Anniversary Stadium in Parami Ward, cordially met with the Malaysian Medical Team and exchanged memorable gifts. Then, the Prime Minister and wife visited Sitagu Vipassana Monastery, paid homage to the State Ovadacariya Presiding Sayadaw Dr. Bhaddanta Nyanissara, and donated 20 million kyat.

In addition, 1,500 tons of cement donated by Tatmadaw (Army, Navy, Air) families were offered, and shared the merits gained. Next, the Prime Minister and party oversaw the  debris clearing process at Soon U Pon Nya Shin pagoda and renovation process of Maha Pagoda. They also presented cash awards to the Tatmadawmen and members of Myanmar Police Force and Fire Brigade who are participating in the clearing measures.

At Shwe Kyat Kya Su Taung Pyae Pagoda in Amarapura Township of Mandalay, the Prime Minister and wife offered flowers, water and oil lamps to the Buddha Image, inspected the damaged areas of the pagoda and instructed on systematic renoavtion of the pagoda keeping original structures. Then, the Prime Minister and party inspected the damaged area along strand road.

At Maha Lawka Marazein Kuthodaw Pagoda, the Prime Minsiter inspected the earthquake damaged ancient gateway and stone inscriptions and gave instructions on systematic restoration process. They also donated flowers, water and oil lamps to the Buddha Image.
