Rehabilitation Efforts: Meeting Held On Continuation Of Assistance For Flood-Affected People

Rehabilitation Team for Disaster-hit areas held a coordination meeting on Tuesday evening at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement.

Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Win Myat Aye stressed continuation of assistance provision as the Disaster Management Department already provided assistance worth nearly 350 million kyats to the flood-affected areas across the country. 79,389 people have been affected by the floods as 166 flood relief camps have been opened in Bago, Yangon and Tanintharyi regions and in Kayin and Mon states.

Members of the Rehabilitation Team discussed a series of matters including data collection, rehabilitation tasks and need of machinery, heathcare, electricity supply and provisions of text books for students. The Union Minister urged the team members to make and present budge report.

Earlier the day, the Union Minister received cash donated by well-wishers for the flood-affected people across the country.
