Region/State boat-rowing competition: Organized by Sports and Physical Education Department

The Region/State traditional boat-rowing competition 2023, organized by the Sports and Physical Education Department of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs was held at the Inya Lake of Myanmar Rowing& Canoeing Federation in Yangon for two days. 

The event aimed for having fitness of the entire people, turning out new generation rowers from regions and states, getting people interested in rowing, promoting more friendship among rowers of regions and states and developing Myanmar rowing sport standard.

Kyaw Oo, Deputy Director, Sports and Physical Education Department, said " 11 teams from regions and states participate in 10 kind of rowing events. The Championship awards for men and women and mix championship awards will be presented. Myanmar selected rowing team always brings gold, silver and bronze medals for the nation in every event. The new outstanding generation rowers emerged from the event will be trained at the Nay Pyi Taw Youth Camp."

An official of Yangon Region Rowing Team said that their team was trained at the Myanmar Rowing&Canoeing Federation for 50 days for the competition.

Phyo Po Po Htwe, Women Team Supervisor, Yangon Region Rowing Team, said " Our team won men and women championship trophies and mix trophy last year. We also trained our rowers the best in this year. 16 women rowers, 16 men rowing athletes, 1 female supervisor and 1 coach each and 1 male supervisor and 1 male coach participate in the event. Our teams will participate in all 10kind of events."

The event was held for two days on 10th and 11th August. 291 participants including supervisors and coaches of 11 rowing teams from regions and states participated in 10 kind of rowing events.
