The Taninthayi Region Regional Tourism Committee Work Coordination Meeting (5/2025) was held on November 24 at the Meeting Hall of the Taninthayi Region Government Office in Dawei.

At the meeting, the Chairman of the Regional Tourism Committee and Region Chief Minister U Myat Ko explained the matters that need to be implemented and the tasks that need to be provided for the development of the tourism sector in the region. He stated that they are primarily focusing on and providing services for new business licenses, including hotel operation licenses and tour operator licenses.

He emphasized the need for collaborative coordination to attract more tourist visitors to the islands along the coastal areas related to the tourism sector. He highlighted that transportation is crucial in operating tourism activities. Currently, as more people are traveling by air, there are difficulties in scheduling flights. He mentioned that Dawei is already working on expanding its runway, and similarly, efforts are underway to expand the runways in Myeik and Kawthaung. He urged the attendees to provide suggestions and discussions collaboratively.

Subsequently, the Committee Secretary explained the implementation status of previous meeting decisions and presented requests related to license applications in various service sectors requiring the committee's approval. The committee members then provided suggestions and discussions for the systematic and long-term development of the hotel and tourism sector within the region. It is reported that the Region Chief Minister coordinated and facilitated the discussions and presentations.
