Regional Parliament: Selection, Transparency, Report, Plan, Bill Discussed

Yangon Region Parliament Held Its 28th Day Session On Wednesday.

MPs raised questions on Shwedagon Pagoda Board of Trustees members selection, transparency of the total amount of cash donation received by Shwedagon pagoda, Sule pagoda, Kabaaye pagoda, Botahtaung pagoda and Buddha Tooth Relic Pagoda. Concerned officials replied that the Board of Trustees members are selected by the election committee under the co-ordination between Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture and Regional Government.

The total amount of cash donation received by the pagodas was also read aloud for transparency. MPs also discussed the report on Urban Development of Yangon Region based on domestic and foreign investments (2018-2021).

Concerning the “Agriculture Master Plan, Yangon Region (2018-2021)”, U Aung Min Min from Kungyankone Township constituency-2, discussed that sufficient training and education are needed first before establishing the plan.

U Han Soe from Dawpone Township constituency-1 also claimed that the plan to use contract farming method is suitable as the price of rice has been raised due to low productivity. The analysis and remark on the submitted bill amending the excise Tax law for Yangon Region was also presented.
