





Myanmar is hosting the 60th Meeting of ASEAN National Tourism Organizations, 45th meeting of ASEAN Plus Three National Tourism Organizations, 32nd meeting of ASEAN-India Tourism Working Group from July 10th to 11th via video conferencing.
At the opening ceremony, held on Wednesday, Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr Thet Thet Khaing gave an opening speech, expressing appreciation for the efforts of ASEAN and partners organizations for reviving of tourism in post-COVID period.
The Union Minister added that Myanmar received 1.28 million tourists in 2023, with mostly from China and Thailand. According to the cooperation framework related to ASEAN Tourism Strategic Plan 2016-2025, she pointed out the need to promote cooperation for human resources development, sustainable tourism and joint market promotion. She expressed appreciation to the Philippines for leading the development of the 2025 ASEAN Tourism Strategy Project with the help of the Asian Development Bank, and pledged Myanmar’s cooperation in implementing the project.
The meetings then continued, and Leader of Malaysia Tourism Authority served as the Chairman of the 60th Meeting of ASEAN National Tourism Organizations while Myanmar Tourism Authority Leader, served as the Deputy Chairman. A total of 100 participants from ASEAN National Tourism Organizations, Regional and International Tourism Organizations and ASEAN Secretariat joined the meeting.
