Regional Meeting: ASEAN Free Trade Area Council Ministers Meeting

Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, AFTA Council Minister of Myanmar, Dr. Kan Zaw attended the Virtual Ministerial Meeting of AFTA Council Ministers concerned with the ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement (ATIGA) Upgrade Negotiation on 7th February.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Ministry of Trade and Industry of Singapore Gan Kim Yong, and also attended by AFTA Council Ministers from ASEAN Member States, Deputy Secretary General of ASEAN and representatives.

In the meeting, the Ministers discussed and provided the guidance on the outstanding issues of the ATIGA upgrade negotiation and the arrangement for the signing of the Second Protocol to Amend the ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement. Negotiation of the ATIGA upgrade was started in March 2022 and aims to conclude in March 2025.
