Regional Hluttaw: Budget Estimation Discussed At The Special Session

Yangon Region Parliament held special session (1/2019) on Tuesday.

At the session, new military representative for Yangon Region Parliament Major Thu Aung Zaw (Army) took the oath.

Regional Minister for Planning and Finance, U Myint Thaung later submitted the Estimated Budget of Yangon Region Government for 2019-2020 fiscal years.

Estimated budgets of departments under Yangon Region Government were collected, reviewed and submitted to Public Accounts Committee of Yangon Region Parliament in March of this year.

The estimated budget for regional government was originally estimated at 704.552 billion and after reviewing by the Public Account Committee, it was 772.048 billion kyats. According the meeting decision by the Ministry of Planning and Finance, held in May, the additional 63.344 billion kyats was granted to Yangon Region Government.

Minister, Ministry of Planning and Finance (Yangon Region Govt.), Myint Thaung said “The budget estimation of the government is about 704 billion kyats. There was a deficit of 148.101 billion kyats in budget estimation. So, the additional budget was granted after the budget analysis of Ministry of Planning and Finance. And thus, the total estimated budget of the regional government was 772.048 billion kyats.”

The highest amount of budget is estimated to be used in bridge construction with 165.439 billion kyats.

Meanwhile, total income of Yangon Region Government' Office for the fiscal years is 6.792 billion kyats.

The discussion on budget estimation will be continued on the second day meeting of the Special Session which will be held on June 12.
