Regional Development: Vice President attends opening of Midwifery Training School (Hakha)

Vice President U Henry Van Thio together with Union Ministers, the Chin State Chief Minister and officials arrived in Hakha via Htantalan on Saturaday.

On arrival at the construction of convocation hall of Hakha University, officials reported on sailent points of the buildings, annual budget for constructing convocation hall, progress of works, the proposed site for constructing university archway and arrangement for availability of water and electricity.

In reponse to the report, the Vice President called for carrying out the Hakha University to become a teaching place of all universities and colleges and gave instructions on planting cherry trees in the virgin and vacant lands of the university.

The Vice President and party looked into construction of convocation hall. They then inspected the proposed site for the construction of Nwe Creek dam in Hakha and digging artesian well for the locals. The Vice President later attended opening ceremony of Midwifery training school (Hakha) of Department of Human Resources for Health and formally opened the training school together with officials.

After the photo session, the Vice President and party viewed around the training school. At the event, the Vice President said that it is very important to nuture human resources on health for rendering basic health care service to the locals in Chin State.

Due to the opening of this training school, the midwife trainees can learn at their region and will provide more better health care services to the locals. It will benefit to turning out more midwives necessary for health care serivices of mother and infants, having opportunity for the female youths in Chin State to attend the midwifery training in local, creating job opportunities for the locals and reducing the mortality rates of mother and infant.

The newly opened Midwifery Traning School (Hakha) is located on 20.26 acres of land in Hakha Htah ward near Hakha-Falam road and it is 2-storey RC concrete building and facilitated with female hostels.

The training school can teach 50 trainees annually. The Vice President and party then inspected construction of 3-storey Chin State Court.

At the Institute of Sports and Physical Education (Hakha), the Vice President called for planting seasonal crops at the vacant land, digging artesian well for the sufficient drinking water and laying concrete at the entrance of the Institute.

The Vice President and party then looked into completed buildings and futher programs. They later inspected arrangement for water supply to the town and looked into development of the city at the view point in Hakha. The Vice President and party then left Hakha for Kalay.

Via Kalay, they  arrived back in Nay Pyi Taw in the evenin of that day.
