Regional Cooperation: ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting Continued In Bangkok

Union Minister for International Cooperation U Kyaw Tin attended the ASEAN Plus Three (APT) Foreign Ministers Meeting in Bangkok of Thailand on Friday.

Foreign Ministers of China, South Korea and Japan attended an annual meeting with their counterparts ASEAN member States.

The Meeting discussed cooperation in important areas including finance, connectivity, sustainable development, disaster relief and multilateral trade, especially the ongoing negotiations on the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).

The Meeting also welcomed the initiative to launch the APT website to enhance visibility of APT to the public.

The Union Minister also attended the 9th East Asia Summit (EAS) Foreign Ministers' Meeting.

The meeting underscored the importance of EAS as a mechanism for discussing regional strategic and cooperation issues such as disaster relief, connectivity and security challenges, especially drug trafficking and transnational crime.

The Meeting also endorsed the Progress Report on the Implementation of the Manila Plan of Action to Advance the Phnom Penh Declaration on the East Asia Summit Development Initiative 2018 – 2022.

The Union Minister also joined the 26th ASEAN Regional Forum together with his counterparts from the regional countries.
