Regional Cooperation: ASEAN-China Year of People-to-People Exchanges

Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin arrived back home on Sunday, after attending the 2024 ASEAN-China Year of People-to-People Exchanges in Fuzhou City of Fujian Province in the People’s Republic of China from 1st to 2nd  February.

During their stay in China on 1st of February, Myanmar delegation attended the Launching ceremony of the Logo for 2024 ASEAN-China Year of People-to-People Exchanges. It was followed by a dinner hosted by Fujian Provincial Government.

On the 2nd, the Union Minister together with the Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers and Deputy Ministers of the ASEAN member states met with the Chinese State Councilor Shen Yiqin, and made a tour of the exhibitions held at Fuzhou Strait International Conference and Exhibition Center Lobby.

Then, the Union Minister attended the opening ceremony of the 2024 ASEAN-China Year of People-to-People Exchanges held at Fuzhou Strait International Conference and Exhibition Center Multi-Function Hall.

In his remark, the Union Minister stressed that Myanmar values the importance of the people-to people exchanges in promoting the friendly relations among ASEAN member countries and expressed his belief that the 2024 ASEAN-China Year of People-to-people exchanges program will stimulate the friendships between diverse social organizations, securing the unity and mutual respect and cooperation.

Then, the Union Minister attended a honorary luncheon hosted by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries at Empark Exhibition Grand Hotel and gave a speech.

In his speech, the Union Minister called for long term concerted efforts from both   ASEAN member states and China in order to maintain the tradition and culture and to enhance mutual understanding among civilizations.

In the afternoon, the Myanmar delegation led by the Union Minister attended ASEAN-China Spring Festival Carnival held at Maritime Silk Road Culture Square, followed by Pot - side Chats “Time for Tea, Time for us” program, organized at Fujian Lakeside Hotel.

In the evening, they enjoyed “The Dream of the Maritime Silk Road” musical show at Fujian Theatre. As an excursion, Myanmar delegation visited Fuzhou Hotspring Park, Three Lanes and Seven Alleys, 30th Anniversary Exhibition of the “Vision 3820” and Yantai Mountain together with the ASEAN delegations on 3rd February.
