Regional Cooperation: 6th Meeting of ACMECS Tourism Ministers

Myanmar is hosting the 7th Meeting of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Viet Nam (CLMV) and 6th Meeting of Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Tourism Ministers and Senior Tourism Officials in Yangon.

On 28th November, the 6th Meeting of Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Tourism Ministers Meeting was held and it was chaired by Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic Mrs. DaranyPhommavongsa.

Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr. Thet Thet Khaing attended the meeting alongside with the delegations from ACMECS member states.During the meeting, the implementations of the tourism related recommendations in Vientiane Declaration of the 10th ACMECS Summit to enhance connectivity towards a more sustainable, inclusive and resilient community as Five Countries One Destination was determined.

The meeting also prioritized the promotion of digitalization within ACMECS tourism development in order to strengthen resilience, sustainability, quality and excellent competition that will support the building of socio-digital economy, creative economy, circular economy and green economy.

The outcomes of the meeting were announced by the Chairperson during the media session. [Soundbite] After the meeting, the delegation members took a tour of the prominent places in Yangon including the Cultural Museum, Bogyoke Market, MahaBandhula Park and Shwedagon Pagoda.
